There are 3 basic ways to cook an egg.

Hard boiled, Poached, Fried and Scrambled

Hard Boiled Eggs

Hard Boiled Eggs

1 or 2 eggs cooked in a Metal Camp Cup. (Start with room temperature eggs, but for just one, it can be cold)

Heat 1 ½ cups of water, let it drip into a metal cup
Pour the water thru the reservoir again to super heat it (the first trickle will be about 165 F but the next will be 185 F )
Gently put the egg into the super heated water
Put the cup back on the burner with a lid

For Hard Boiled Eggs
Cook 20 minutes or to the degree of doneness you like

6 eggs cooked in the Coffee Pot. (Start with room temperature eggs)

Heat 4 cups of water, let it drip into the pot
Pour the water thru the reservoir again to super heat it (the first trickle will be about 165 F but the next will be 185 F )
Gently put the eggs into the super heated water
Put the pot back on the burner with a lid

For Hard Boiled Eggs
Cook 30 – 40  minutes or to the degree of doneness you like

Poached Eggs (The easiest way is to use a poaching cup.)

Poached EggCook it in a sierra cup if you have one, but any metal cup  with a lid will work. (Sierra cups are great because they’re flared like a bowl.)

  • Heat 1 cup of water, let it drip into a sierra cup
  • Pour the water thru the reservoir again to super heat it (the first trickle will be about 165 F but the next will be 185 F ) Put a lid on the cup and let it continue heating while you get your egg ready

Poaching cups are easy to use and come in mamy forms, including silicon and older aluminum cups that you can find at thrift stores. Maybe your Granny even has some she would share with you.
Technically, you’re not really poaching, because the eggs aren’t cooked directly in the water, but many people just don’t want their eggs fried in fat. You can poach directly in the water, but that’s a lot more dificult and I just couldn’t get one to come out pretty enough to post it, so I decided to skip it for now.

  • Crack an egg into a poaching cup and float the cup in the hot water in your sierra cup Make sure your cup or other container of water is deep enough for your poaching cup to float and still be able to put a lid on, some of the new silicon cups are pretty tall.
  • Put the sierra cup back on the burner with a lid

Cook about 7 minutes

Fried Eggs

You all know how you like your eggs, so I won’t tell you how to fry them. I just wanted to show you that you could.

  • Heat your pan on the burner with a lid for about 5 minutes.
  • Put your eggs in the pan and put the lid on it.

It took about 7 minutes to fry these eggs

Scrambled Eggs

Every one has their favorite was to scramble eggs, so I’m not going to tell you how to do it.

  • Put a little oil in what ever vessel you are going to cook your eggs
  • Put a lid on it and put it on the burner for about 5 minutes to heat it up
  • Add your eggs, and put a lid on it
  • Don’t even check it for the first 5 minutes, leave it covered, the more you uncover it, the longer it will take to cook
  • Check and stir it every 2 or 3 minutes

4 eggs will cook in about 32 min (maybe less if you don’t open it very often)
