Do you like Waffles ?

Happy Våffeldagen (Waffel Day) – March 25th

Liege waffle with strawberries and hot fudge.
Heat and eat some waffles with you coffee maker.

Waffle

Yep, I took a little bite out of it.

You can heat up some waffles on  the burner of your coffee maker.

I got some Liege waffles from a local place called the Waffle Hut and put them in the freezer.
You can use any frozen waffles, but I also found some fresh in a pkg. at my local store and these would be great to send to you Soldier.
Thaw your waffles if they are frozen.
Put a piece of foil on your burner, put the waffle on to cook with a little lid over it.
Flip them over.
Cook time about 20 minutes.

They are so much better than those cooked in the microwave, they will be crispy on the outside and soft inside.

Top with anything you like.

I found some fresh waffles and I will post about them later, now I have to get back to farm chores. Spring on the farm is such a busy time for me.

Mini Corn Dogs

National Corn Dog Day — Always the 3rd Sat. in March

You don’t have to be left out, you can cook some mini corn dogs with your coffee maker.

CornDog 0897

If you want to put some little sticks on them, you can try bamboo party forks, coffee stir sticks or even some chopsticks. I just cut them with my kitchen scissors. Thaw them in the refrigerator first.

Corn Dogs Sticks

Find a little pan and lightly oil it.

Corn Dogs Pan

To build a little mini oven, just put another pan on top.

Turn them every few minutes till they are done. They won’t brown much but they will be crisper than if you put them in the microwave.

FAQ
Q.  Can I heat a regular size corn dog with the coffee maker?
A.  Sure, just cut the stick off and you should be able to find a pan that it will fit in. Turn it
every  5 minutes or so. And don’t forget to defrost it first.

Chocolate Cupcakes..Be Mine

Chocolate Cupcakes.  Making special treats with your coffee maker is fun and easy and even better if it’s chocolate. You can bake 4 mini cupcakes at a time with your coffee cake maker.

ChocoCupcakeBeMine2 _0777

I only make  mini cupcakes, as larger ones won’t cook all the way thru. Use any recipe or your favorite Chocolate Cake Mix. If you don’t want chocolate use any flavor you like.
I only use water when using a mix to make cupcakes with my coffee maker, it makes a lighter cupcake than using eggs and oil. I’m not sure why, it might have to do with baking at such a low temperature. (Anyway it’s all about experimenting, so try what ever you want.)  Besides it makes it real easy to just add water,  you don’t need to have anything else on hand. Since you’re not using eggs, you can eat the batter raw, it makes a great frosting if you have any left over.

You can make  4 mini cupcakes at a time with your coffee maker.  But you’ll need to build a mini oven.

Mini Oven  1 metal bowl, (three cup size will works nicely).

Cupcake Holders   4 metal cupcake holders.
A few things I’ve tried.

  • 1/8 cup measuring cups, sold individually as coffee measuring cups. Cut the handles off leaving about 1 in. I used tin snips to cut mine.
  • Sleeves made from a soda can. Cut 3/4 in. strips from a soda can and use 2 paper clips to hold them together. I used my scissors to cut them, be careful they will be sharp.

Pre-warm your oven place your metal bow upside down on top of the burner and let it warm for about 5 minutes.

Bake Your Cupcakes (4 at a time)

  • 1 cup cake mix (makes about 12 cupcakes / 3 batches).
  • 1/2 c water (this is only a approximate, some batters may take less).
  • Make the batter just slightly looser than brownie batter, but not so loose that it will pour.
  • Put papers into your metal cups and fill just over 1/2 way with batter.
  • Put your 4 cups onto the burner.
  • Put your heated bowl back over them.
  • Bake 15-18 minutes.

Frost or leave un-frosted, but remember if you make your cupcakes with out eggs you can use some of the batter to frost them. And who doesn’t love to eat the batter and lick the spoon.

So what did I bake the cake in? I have 2 little pans from my Easy Bake Oven, do you remember those, I sill have one in the barn and it still works, what’s not to work, it’s only a light bulb in a box.

Bake Your Cake

  • 1 cup cake mix (this will give you enough for a 4 layer cake or three layers with some left over to frost your cake).
  • 1/2 c water (this is only a approximate, some batters may take less).
  • Make the batter just slightly looser than brownie batter, but not so loose that it will pour.
  • Grease your pan and cut a parchment circle for the bottom, grease it too on both sides, (the grease on the bottom of the parchment paper will help it stick to the pan while you are adding the batter.
  • Put 3 Tbsp. batter into your pan.
  • Quickly take your heated off bowl off the burner, put your cake pan on and replace the hot bowl covering the cake pan.
  • Bake 18 minutes.

Frost or leave unfrosted, but remember if you make your cakes with out eggs you can use some of the batter to frost them.

Super Bowl Sunday Wings, Made in a Coffee Maker

I spent the day with my favorite GUYs. We had Wings Cooked in a Coffee Maker with Guy Fieri Sauce.  It doesn’t get much better than that. Usually on Super Bowl Sunday you’ll find me gone to town, shopping. I’m not a big football fan, but we had a friend come from out of town to visit and watch the game so I decided to do a little coffee maker cooking. Since I was already going to have my two favorite guys here, I decided to invite one more, but since Guy Fieri could make it we decided to feast on his line of sausages and sauces without him.  I dug out my spare coffeemaker and had a blast cooking all kinds of snacks and treats all day long. ,Wings SBowl_0878

Guy’s Nacho Sausages with Old Skool Salsa and Wings with his sauces, all cooked with a coffee maker.

Wings

Cook time 2 ½ hours.

  • 1 ½ lb  chicken wings (tips removed)
  • 1 cup    Guy Fieri or your favorite homemade or bottled sauce

I like the Bourbon Brown Sugar and my husband likes the Kansas City Barbeque and our friend, well he was glad to have anything that wasn’t on his diet. There’s also Buffalo Wing Sauce, but we haven’t opened it yet.

Hot Spicy Meatballs

Hot Spicy Meatballs, A Great Super Bowl Snack

Cook time, about 1 hour

dl PicsArt_1387354055453

1/2    lb ground pork (use any meat you like)
1        egg
1/2    cup plain breadcrumbs
1        clove garlic, minced
1        tsp ginger, freshly grated
1        Tbsp soy sauce
1        chopped green onion
1/2    tsp black pepper

1        Tbsp sesame seeds
4        oz Your Favorite Hot Spicy Sauce

Meat Ball Ingredient 0618

  • Mix the ingredients together, until everything is evenly combined. (except the sauce and sesame seeds)
  • If you don’t want to get your hands gooey, use food handlers gloves.
  • Roll the mixture into balls, using about one large tablespoon of mixture for each.
  • Make 9, that’s about all you can get into your coffee pot.
  • Put the Meatballs into a bowl to pre-heat. (see directions below)

insulate the pot
Wrap the coffee pot with a double layer of foil, do not cover the bottom.
Take an 18 inch piece of foil, fold it in half lengthwise and wrap it around the pot.
This will help raise the temperature of the contents in the pot.
Later you will also be adding 2 layers of foil to cover the top.
This will help raise the temperature about 40 degrees.

Notes:
Never put a hot-pot on a cold surface, put it on a pot holder or a towel.
Never use a metal spoon in your coffee pot. Always use a wooden or plastic spoon, the glass is delicate and you don’t want to break it.

per-warm meatballs

  • Super Heat 2 cups of water by pouring it into the reservoir, letting it drip into the pot and pouring it back into the reservoir and let it drip into the pot again. This will raise the temperature about 20 degrees.
  • Pour the superheated water over the meatballs in the bowl and allow to warm whiling heating more water.

Meat Balls Bowl 0651

Coffee Pot shown without foil insulation.

  •  Super-Heat 2 Cups of water by pouring the water in the reservoir, letting it drip thru into the pot and pouring it back in to the reservoir, do not let it drip thru a second time yet.
  • Put the pre-warmed meatballs in the pot, do not include the water.
  • Put the pot on the burner.
  • Allow the Super-Heated water to drip over them.
  • Cover the top with a double layer of foil.
  • Cook 40 minutes.
  • Drain the water from the pot, being careful not to pour any of the meatballs out, any water left will thin your sauce.
  • Add 4 oz sauce and sesame seeds to the pot with the meatballs.
  • Cover, and cook an additional 20 min. to heat the sauce.

Caution: Never put a hot-pot on a cold surface, if you need to put it down not on the burner, put it on a hot pad or a towel.

Meatballs Pot 0758

Carefully remove the meatballs, you can use plastic tongs or just dump them out.

Questions

Q.  Do I have to super-heat the water and pre-warm the meatballs?
A.  No, just add an hour to the cooking time.

Q.  Do I have to super heat the water that I cook the meat balls in?
A.  No, just run the water thru the reservoir once and add about 20 minutes.

As you can see pre-heating meat and super heating water can really cut down on cooking time. When you put the cold meat in the pot of water you drastically reduce the water temperature, but by pre-heating you bring the meat temperature up about 50 degrees and when you are cooking with something that doesn’t put out a lot of heat, that can be substantial.

  • Put this on the burner of the coffee maker.
  • Put a Sierra Cup or other small metal bowl over it. (It’s nice if it has a little handle.)
